The Klondike Middle School Bands are made up of three separate Concert Bands and a Jazz Band. The Band program contains around half of the student body at KMS and continues to grow each year.
Students start 6th grade Band and are taught the foundations of performing on an instrument and developing positive practice habits for success. In the following years students have several performances and during 7th and 8th Grade, compete in the ISSMA JME Concert Band contest.
All students are able to participate in Solos and Ensembles which takes place during the 3rd quarter. Students can elect to perform a Solo or perform with a small ensemble.
7th and 8th Grade students can choose to participate in the Jazz Band which meets after school for one hour twice a week. This group performs several times throughout the year and also competes at contest.
Band students are expected to work at learning their instruments and are given many tips and tools to help reach this goal. For their hard work, students are rewarded with a large party for all grades. When meeting requirements in 8th Grade, a trip is taken to Chicago to celebrate the great work they have put in over the last few years.
The Klondike Bands have had great success over the years due to the amazing support of the school and the parents who are active in helping at our many events.
